Welcome!

Welcome to Margaret Manson Elementary School's website. It provides information on numerous aspects of our school.

Margaret Manson Elementary School is located in the West end of Montreal, in the West Island City of Kirkland, just off the Chemin Ste. Marie, Exit 49 of the Trans Canada Highway 40.

We are an Early Immersion School serving zones 18, 19 and 20 of the Lester B. Pearson School Board.

These zones include the Timberlea area, Kirkland north of the Trans Canada Highway and west of Houde Street, and a section of Pierrefonds West, north of Antoine Faucon.

We provide Daycare services before and after school and full cafeteria service at lunch time.

Parents have many opportunities to be involved in our school. We have an active Governing Board and a wonderful Home & School Association that works hard to plan special events for the school and raise funds for a wide range of materials and equipment for the students. Parents also volunteer in the library, on field trips, and for special programs within the school. We invite you to continue visiting our website for further details on our school.

Guiding Principles

  • Children come first!

  • To embrace the values of Margaret Manson.

    • The school was named after Margaret Manson, an educator whose career included teacher, principal, educational consultant, and school board commissioner.

    • She was a founding member of 2 West Island libraries and an advocate for children who learned differently. Being aware and addressing the various learning styles of children is therefore of prime importance.

    • The school continues to support her belief that it is important to ensure a good beginning for all children, literacy being a key component.

    • Inclusion of children with special needs is an integral part of the school.

  • To adhere to the principles of the Quebec Education Program.

  • To promote Professional Development.

School Vision

At Margaret Manson Elementary School, children come first.

We value:

  • The importance of each individual’s contribution to our school community.

  • The promotion of personal growth through diverse learning opportunities.

  • A safe environment where all individuals feel a sense of belonging.

  • Leadership, teamwork and a sense of responsibility for others; locally and globally.

Mission Statement

We the students, staff, parents and community:

  • Will work collaboratively to support all learning.

  • Will provide a safe and peaceful environment that fosters personal and academic growth.

  • Will learn to value and respect ourselves and others.
